R-Studio is intended for the recovery of data, regardless of the cause of their loss, intentional or accidental. Unlike many other similar tools available out there, this one supports an amazing list of file systems, including not only FAT and NTFS, used mostly by Windows, but also Linux, Unix and Mac OS partitions. Moreover, it can create images of a damaged partition to prevent additional losses.
Compared with other data-recovery tools, R-Studio seems more difficult to work with. For instance, it does not come with any wizard. It supports two types of scan: simple and detailed, which differ on the time they take to complete and the quality of the results. Surprisingly, there is a mode that gives you the possibility of working with the available results without waiting for the whole scanning process to complete. Similarly, you can use the default parameters and scan the whole partition as well as set custom start and end parameters.
All in all, R-Studio is quite effective in recovering data, regardless of how difficult it might seem to get back. It is a very powerful application, and almost as a consequence of that, the product includes many features that are beyond the common user’s skills and knowledge. It comes in several editions, which have different prices and specificities.
